[22 December 2020] Climate Change Risk Assessment for Southeast Asian Lakes (CCRASEAL) project kick-off meeting was held virtually held on 22 December 2020 and attended by several members of the project from 5 different countries in Southeast Asia. The meeting was organized by the Project Leader, Dr. Salvatore G. P. Virdis (Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand), to discuss overview, direction, and schedule of the project.
The meeting was began with a welcome remark by Dr. Virdis and an introduction of Project Collaborators: Prof. Sangam Shrestha (Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand), Dr. Duong Du Bui (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Viet Nam), Dr. Liew Ju Neng (Universiti Kebangsaan, Malaysia), Dr. Raywadee Roachanakanan (Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Thailand), Ms. Oulavanh Sinsamphanh, (National University of Laos, Lao PDR), Ms. Sengphasouk Xayavong (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Lao PDR), Mr. Vilakone Maniphousay (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Lao PDR), Dr. Sokha Chrin (Ministry of Environment, Cambodia), Dr. Bachisio Mario Padedda (University of Sassari, Italy), and Mr. Siwat Kongwarakom (Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand).
After the introduction, project overview, budget, activities, and schedule were discussed. Several activites were planned, both in the form of scientific research and workshops. At the conclusion of the meeting, partners all agreed that the planned activities should be impactful, for example, organzing workshops that has international relevance, or submitting research to relevant scientific journal. Thus, to achieve these goals, multiple technical meetings were scheduled in the future.
